The company says this machine delivers the advantages of efficiency and economy in specific applications including site preparation, utility right-of-way clearing, vegetation management for fire prevention, railroad maintenance-of-way, agriculture and forestry.
With a Cat C3.8 engine, the company says the machine is rated at 110 gross horsepower and combines with its high-flow/high-pressure auxiliary hydraulic system for a calculated hydraulic-horsepower rating of 94.
Cat says the machine has a 58.1-gallon fuel tank, which is 80 percent larger than the tank on standard 299D2 XHP models, and it is estimated to have a run time of 11 to 12 hours.
The company says it is also factory-equipped with seal and cover components designed to restrict debris and other material from entering the engine compartment and lower frame. Cat adds that the debris deflector channels any material created by rotating attachments away from the front of the cab for added safety.
Additionally, certain engine and emissions components incorporate special parts and covers, designed to deter debris from collecting on the components, and large frame-access panels provide easy access to aid in routine cleaning. Cat adds that a turbine-type pre-cleaner ejects dust, dirt and debris from engine-intake airflow before it reaches the filter, thus extending air-filter service life.
The company says the machine comes factory-equipped with components that provide guarding to protect front and rear LED work lights, work-tool coupler area, work-tool electrical harness connections and auxiliary-hydraulic quick-disconnect fittings from impact and debris.
Cat says the machine also features a one-piece, sealed, pressurized cab design and a heated, air-suspension seat with independently adjustable armrest, joystick-control positions, integrated full-color display for machine operating information and performance adjustments, rearview camera and integrated Bluetooth radio with a microphone.
Cat says the machine also includes a full-color, 5-inch, LCD Advanced Display monitor that enables on-screen adjustment of implement response, hydrostatic-drive response, creep-control speed, ride-control-activation speed, language preference and gauge layout. The company says the rearview camera also provides high-resolution images of difficult-to-see areas behind the machine.
The company says the cooling system’s hydraulically driven demand fan operates only when required, and the reversing fan clears intake screens and can operate in both automatic- and momentary-purge modes.
Cat adds that a battery disconnect adds to machine security and allows isolating the battery when servicing the machine or when storing the machine to minimize battery drain.
The machine uses a torsion-axle-type undercarriage-suspension system that allows independent vertical movement between the frame and undercarriage, and it also includes standard two-speed travel and an electronic hand/foot throttle system (with decelerator pedal).
John Deere has unveiled three new backhoe attachments into its lineup of attachments: the BH9B, BH10B and BH11B.
The company says these machines were designed for operators handling landscaping, light construction, utility and agricultural work. These backhoes, John Deere says, are similar to other Deere attachments and are ideal for use on the company’s G-Series skid steers and compact track loaders.
“With the growing need for work in compact spaces, these new backhoe attachments provide contractors, landscapers and agricultural material handlers with the power and variety to tackle any job efficiently and swiftly,” says Jason Simmons, attachments engineering supervisor, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The new lineup of backhoe attachments is designed to provide power with improved hydraulics and sleek design to operators working across different job sites and applications.”
The company says these attachments are ideal for those working in tight spaces, as they offer swing speed control and 180-degree capabilities to help maximize efficiency and improve machine stability. Workspace visibility is also optimized, according to Deere, because of the attachments’ sleek, low-profile design.
The company says that cushioned cylinders allow for smooth operations and limit shock loads during use, and a two-lever control of boom or swing (left lever) and dipperstick or bucket (right lever) allow for precise movement and control.
Each of the models, Deere says, includes a 9-12 gallons-per-minute hydraulic flow range for smooth operation, and the company adds that these machines provide different levels of maximum dig depths ranging of 110 inches on the BH9B, 116 inches on the BH10B and 133 inches on the BH11B.
The BH model widths, Deere says, range from 18 inches to 36 inches, and the heavy-duty buckets feature an easy-cleanout design for the toughest jobs.
Deere says both the BH10B and BH11B buckets offer three linkage positions to maximize curl, reach or breakout force. The breakout force on the BH9B is 3,895 pounds, 5,675 pounds on the BH10B and 5,675 pounds on the BH11B.
The company says these machines also have standard-tilt seating capabilities, a grab handle and open design.
The company says the walk-behind model 45HP is the ideal topdresser for spreading screened compost with up to 25 percent moisture content on lawns and small turf areas.
Earth & Turf adds that the unit’s three-wheel maneuverability makes it possible to get jobs done fast, even in tight quarters, and the 45HP features a 4.5 cu.ft. hopper capacity.
The machine is 30 inches wide and spreads materials using a reciprocating screen design, which the company says produces in one pass and even, full-width spread pattern that’s 1/8 to ¼ inches thick.
Doosan Infracore North America, LLC, says it’s adding three new models to its mini excavator lineup in the 3.5, 4 and 5-ton classes: the Doosan DX35-5, DX42-5 and DX50-5.
“Doosan customers expect high-performing, productive and reliable machines when they see the Doosan orange,” says Aaron Kleingartner, marketing manager for Doosan Infracore North America. “Now our customers who need a 3.5-, 4- or 5-ton mini excavator can purchase, lease or rent a machine from their local Doosan construction equipment dealer.”
“We hope with the additional models, our Doosan dealers will have the ability to grow their businesses and be even more successful in their local markets,” Kleingartner says. “Also, it’s important to note that these three models will be manufactured in the United States for fast delivery to our U.S. and Canadian dealers and customers.”
The company says that all three mini excavators will be available with an enclosed cab, including heat and air conditioning or an open canopy configuration, and both configurations allow for all-around visibility.
Doosan says a standard suspension seat provides all-day comfort for operators and a strategically positioned deluxe instrument panel provides valuable machine information for operators. The machines also include a standard keyless system to help reduce unauthorized machine use and theft.
Doosan says customers can choose between a standard arm or long-arm option. The company says the long-arm option gives operators more dig depth and reach and reduces the amount of machine repositioning.
All three models come standard with a blade and an angle blade is available as a factory option, and the angle blade, according to the company, makes it easier for mini excavator operators to perform backfill tasks, as well as create slopes and swales.
Doosan says all three machines can be equipped with a quick coupler, bucket and thumb attachment package, and the quick couplers will allow mini excavator operators to change attachments easily to match the trenching task to the desired bucket width.
Doosan says a thumb is a popular attachment to use with a bucket to effectively grab, lift and place items, and the company adds that operators will have access to 17 to 20 gallons per minute of auxiliary hydraulic flow, depending on the model.
