Back from the road and need to get work done at your desk? Here are the best ways to turn your MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or MacBook into a productivity hub. Apple’s MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the discontinued MacBook are remarkable laptops, but they don’t make for the best desktop alternatives right out of the box. Like Ford’s Model T, which gave you a choice of colors (so long as you chose black), modern MacBooks give you your choice of ports, so long as they are Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C. While Thunderbolt 3 and wireless connectivity are perfectly serviceable for most mobile professionals while they are out and about, many offices around the globe still rely on legacy ports like HDMI and USB 3.0, not to mention SD card readers and Ethernet for wired connections. If you don’t want to rely on a whole host of USB Type-C adapters or dongles back at your desk, a docking station can be your best solution short of buying a desktop Mac. This guide to the top MacBook docking stations for your Apple laptop will help you find the desktop peripheral setup that’s right for you. Kensington has a long history of providing versatile Mac and Windows docking solu...

Alvarez & Marsal and Oaklins advise on deal in footwear market

Swedish private equity firm Investment AB Latour has acquired Emma Safety Footwear, a Dutch manufacturer of premium safety footwear and accessories. The deal, which closed last week, sees Hultafors Group, a portfolio company of Investment AB Latour, acquire 80% of the shares in Daan Holding, which is the parent of Emma Safety Footwear. In the coming three years, the Swede’s will gradually buy the remaining 20%, a process set to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.  According to Ole Kristian Jødahl, CEO at Hultafors Group, Emma Safety Footwear forms a “perfect match” with the firm’s existing safety footwear business, “especially with respect to product portfolio aspects, geographical sales footprint and customer segment presence.”  Hultafors Group owns a portfolio of brands focused on functionality, safety and protection, ranging from workwear and safety shoes to personal protection equipment. Brands include Snickers Workwear, Hultafors, Wibe Ladders, Solid Gear, Dunderdon, Toe Guard, Hellberg Safety and Johnson Level. The addition of Emma Safety Footwear adds net sales of €23 million and around 140 employees to its footprint, as well as a new state-of-the-art production f...

Recensione Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Docking station (foto)

Energica’s sales are booming, surpassing 2019 sales in first 2 months of 2020

Energica’s sales appear to be exploding this year, showing record growth for the Italian electric motorcycle company. That would put the company on track for an explosive year of sales in 2020 if the momentum continues. While the growth is impressive, it is important to note that Energica has also recently begun a new pre-order program along with the introduction of its latest 2020 model year of electric motorcycles. That program has helped create an influx of orders early in the year for the new generation of electric motorcycles. The size of the market can help put Energica’s overall sales into perspective. Europe’s electric motorcycle and scooter market are also growing, with the ACEM reporting a 97% increase in the two-wheeled electric market in Europe (not including vehicles under 4 kW) between 2018 (7,478 units sold) and 2019 (14,739 units sold). Assuming an average price of around €23,000 for Energica’s various electric motorcycles, €3.25 million in sales in 2019 would equate to around 140 motorcycles, assuming revenue came entirely from vehicle sales. That would put Energica at around 1% of Europe’s electric two-wheeler market. While not very large, those numbers still ...

Drill Pipe Market With Top Countries Data Analysis and Forecast 2025 by Recent Trends and Regional Growth Overview

Most stems in drilling systems need to be created in a way that allows for efficient drilling torque transfer that can be sent downward, over many miles and through the Earth’s crust. In order to do this, the pipes need to be able to withstand the massive pressure exerted by the ground towards the outer walls of the pipe, as well as the pressure exerted by the fluids from within. This involve the use of tempered steel tubes that can be expensive in nature. Due to this, the reusability of drill pipes is a highly regarded quality that could end up hampering the overall demand rates for them. Drill pipes, usually made from aluminum or steel, are hollow and thin-walled and utilized in drilling rigs. Drilling fluid is pushed down the hole and back up the annulus. They are available in the market in different sizes, strengths, and wall thicknesses. Their length is usually between 27 and 32 feet. They can withstand massive internal and external pressure, distortion, bending, and vibration as they can rotate and lift the bottom hole assembly (BHA). The two types of drill pipes are standard drill pipes and heavy weight drill pipe. At the forefront of driving growth in the global drill pi...

13 Best Planners for 2019 for Every Organization Style | The Strategist

Every product is independently selected by (obsessive) editors. Things you buy through our links may earn New York a commission. The new year means a new planner, and while choosing one can be a surprisingly personal decision, there are characteristics that all the best planners share. A paper planner should be sturdy, something that can withstand a year’s worth of daily use without falling apart, and it should have enough room for you to write down your calendar appointments or to-do lists, as well as notes. And — based on your own individual preferences — the planner should be dated, so you can easily look ahead and make plans for months in the future. (However, if you’re more of an undated planner kind of person, we’ve written about some of our favorites here, too.) Beyond those basic criteria for a dated planner, there are countless other features and style choices you can make, from the type of binding to the amount of guidance your planner provides. Domi scores twice, Price makes 30 saves to lead Canadiens over Senators 3-0 | CFJC Today | Kamloops, British Columbia

OTTAWA — Max Domi had a pair of goals Saturday night as the Montreal Canadiens beat the Ottawa Senators 3-0. Already playing without Tyler Ennis and Vladislav Namestnikov, both healthy scratches, the Senators (21-30-11) then lost Thomas Chabot midway through the first and struggled to create anything offensively. Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk was a thorn in Montreal’s side all night. Tkachuk got under Price’s skin right from the start and drew a penalty as the Montreal goaltender punched him in the head. He finished the game with nine hits and three shots. Holding a 3-0 lead to start the third the Canadiens tightened up defensively and kept the Senators to the outside. Price made a few big saves, including a glove save on Anthony Duclair to keep the Senators off the board. An Ottawa turnover allowed Ilya Kovalchuk to find Byron all alone out front to beat Anderson at 17:58 of the second. Domi avoided Anderson’s poke check and then scored off his backhand to open the scoring just 1:13 into the game. The Senators had a scary moment midway through the period when Chabot went down awkwardly after being checked into the boards by Brendan Gallagher. He struggled to get off the ice and went r...

Snap Custom Pizza opens its doors on Grand River Avenue

Snap Custom Pizza, a build-your-own pizza restaurant chain, opened its doors at the corner of East Grand River Avenue and M.A.C. Avenue this Saturday.  Snap Pizza is co-owned by business partners Aaron Nocks, Peter Howey and Robert Wasserman, with nine additional locations across Philadelphia, Newark, Delaware and Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Offering a selection of pizzas, salads, grain bowls, breadsticks and soup, Snap Pizza takes pride in their homemade approach to serving, which separates them from other pizza restaurants in the surrounding area.  “We’re very chef driven, like with our salads, we make all our own dressing,” Aaron Nocks, co-owner of Snap Pizza said. “We make it all, we don’t have any freezer in the restaurant or anything like that. We make all our dough fresh and I think that makes a big difference.”  Moving forward, Nocks said they’re trying to evolve as a company, looking to build more stores and to expand their menu in the process. They hope to further differentiate themselves from other pizza chains by building up a unique and changing menu, offering seasonal pizzas and ingredients. Among these, Snap Pizza currently offers pineapples and a signature “mac ...

Pre-Production Review: 2013 Nissan Sentra (Bonus Video)

It’s not easy being Nissan’s middle child. Big brothers Maxima and Altima steal the limelight and even the Versa has upstaged the Sentra since 2011. With the seventh generation, Nissan has decided to completely redesign the Sentra giving it some much needed love. This refocus on the C-segment isn’t surprising with so much competition swirling from the stalwart Corolla and Civic to the upstart Dart and Sonic. In order to compete in this cut-throat market Nissan has whipped up a compact car so big on the inside it’s EPA classified as a mid-size sedan. Did Goldilocks get it right? Is the middle the best place to be? The Sentra’s design has never stirred the soul and the seventh generation is similarly unlikely to make your loins burn. I don’t call that a bad thing as edgy designs can age poorly, instead Nissan has gone for a flowing form that is decidedly elegant compared to other entries in this segment. Up front we get the new Nissan grille with plenty of chrome (a look that I found quite attractive) and out back we get trendy LED tail lamps. The exterior treatment finally makes the Sentra look like one of the family and not the redheaded stepchild. Under the new sheetmetal is a ...
